Program Description

This webinar on the Structured Professional Judgment (SPJ) is presented by Dr. Kelly Watt. The webinar will provide an overview of the core steps involved in conducting a violence risk assessment using Structured Professional Judgement. Structured Professional Judgment is one of the most widely used approaches to violence risk assessment in the world.

Advances have been made to the core steps involved when using Structured Professional Judgment that are supported by both research and practice and reflected in the most recent tools (e.g., RSVP, SAM, HCR-20 V3, SARA V3). The importance of each of these steps will be discussed as well and challenging issues that often arise.

The fee for this training program is $100 and participants should expect to commit approximately 1.5 CE hours to completing this training program. At the end of the training program there will be a quiz that must be passed with a 70%. Once the course is completed participants will complete a course evaluation and then will be able to print their certificate of completion.

This webinar is intended for professionals that want to enhance their understanding in threat assessment and risk management, including those working in criminal justice, security, health care, social service, education, and human resources settings. This webinar is for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level clinicians.

About Dr. Kelly Watt

 
Kelly A. Watt, PhD, works as a Threat Assessment Specialist at Protect International and is a member of the Mental Health, Law, and Policy Institute at Simon Fraser University in Canada.
 
Dr. Watt is the editor of the Intelligence newsletter which is disseminated on behalf of threat assessment professional associations in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific, and that provides recent advances in research, practice, and the law related to threat assessment around the globe. She also currently serves as a coordinator of a special interest group for the Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.
 
Dr. Watt’s work focuses on conducting assessments, providing training, and developing, implementing and evaluating strategies related to preventing, assessing, and managing violence. She has extensive experience applying these skills in a variety of sectors including, general workplaces, criminal settings, and civil settings. She specializes in intimate partner violence and intimate partner homicide.
 
Dr. Watt is the co-author of over 100 journal articles, book chapters, research reports and conference presentations concerning violence risk assessment and management, domestic violence related homicides, and coordinated community responses. She has conducted over 50 workshops on violence risk assessment and management, and victim safety planning around the world.

This Distance Learning Recorded Webinar is an online Training Program. To earn CE’s, you will have to complete the webinar quiz and evaluation for this Distance Learning Recorded Webinar. No partial credit is available. For this webinar, you will need to pass the webinar quiz with 70% correct and complete a webinar evaluation form to earn the certificate. You can take the test as many times as necessary to pass. Participants will earn 1.5 CE hours for completion once they have completed these requirements. Each participant will be able to print their CE certificate immediately after completing and passing the post-test and evaluation.
